Housing Opportunities and Maintenance for the Elderly (H.O.M.E.) provides minor home repairs to eligible seniors through its Upkeep & Repair Program. H.O.M.E. is a Chicago-based non-profit organization that helps income-eligible seniors live independently.
The Upkeep & Repair Program helps income-eligible elderly homeowners maintain healthy and safe living conditions in their homes. Types of repairs include water heaters, electrical and plumbing issues, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and installation of bathroom grab bars.
Eligibility requirements
The program is available to Chicago homeowners who live south of North Avenue and are at least age 62 (age 55 for people with disabilities). Eligibility is based on income.
Application process
Call H.O.M.E. at 773-921-3200. H.O.M.E. staff will visit the applicant's home to determine if the requested repair can be completed.
